Art 52 Week 19 – Spring Faerie

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I finally got around to completing my seasonal faeries series. Here’s spring – I had a lot of fun working on her.

I’m considering doing another series of faeries, perhaps with an elemental theme. We shall see. I’m going to spend a bit of time getting some other ideas out of my head, but I may eventually circle back around to more girlie things like this.

Here is Alex from the manga Nightschool. This wonderful series is drawn and written by Svetlana Chmakova, whose art I have adored for many years now. Cheers on her success and this great series! Please check out Nightschool for yourself and support a very sweet and talented artist.

Art 52 Week 11 – Rusted Ink

Friday, September 11th, 2009

The redesign of my portfolio site is finally live. It took longer than I really should have let it, but I feel like this design suits my personality much more than previous designs did.

Things have been pretty busy at my job, and so I haven’t been able to touch the sketch book lately. I’m hoping to sit myself down and make up two weeks this weekend. They likely won’t be posted as finished, polished pieces, but I’ll see how far I can push them. I also might be a bit sporadic with the weekly updates for a month or so; I’m going to try and not let that happen, but we’ll see how it goes. Regardless, I will be seeing this project through the whole 52 weeks, even if I may need to pause and a week for work once and a while.

I hope all is well, and I hope to be updating again by the end of the weekend.

Finally done. One more to go, and then I explore new themes. :)

Art 52 Week 7 – Social Tree

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

This is what I spent my time on for week 7 of my Art 52 project. It is a little piece for work conveying the roots of social media, how brand is the strength/trunk of any business, and how the personality and strength of a brand can branch out into social media and bear fruit.

David LaPlante tells the tale in a much more exciting manner than I. :)

Art 52 Week 6 – Autumn Faerie

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

I’m happy with this one. :)

I can feel that I’m started to get addicted to drawing again. A little bit of extra time this week has had me willingly wanting to work on my art, to the point it was distracting some nights.

I could push some of this further – namely the blade – but I’m leaving it here so I can start on the lines and colors for winter tomorrow.

Fire Dance – 99%

I still want to add in some jewelry or something. Just some minor details to satisfy my perfectionist streak. We’ll see. . . I’m going to take a bit of time to work on She Who Sits on Edges of Cliffs, then comes back to this one and see what I think it needs.

This feels weird. It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted finished art. What is this craziness? I’m very happy with my new graphics card, though. I’ve been working much faster since I got it, and that’s just boosted the enjoyment. It’s like the old days where I’d get sucked right in, and that is wonderful.
